Queens real estate is comprised of diverse neighborhoods with apartments for rent in buildings that represent the character of the neighborhood. In Long Island City, there are rezoned industrial buildings renovated for apartment complexes along with a vibrant arts scene. Rockaway Beach features post-war apartments right on the water and is just steps from the A train. It’s also a bona fide surfer’s area with vintage bungalows. The History of DUMBO Apartments

DUMBO is the acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass and includes two sections in Brooklyn. One section spans from the Manhattan Bridge to the Vinegar Hill area, and the other section is located between Brooklyn bridges and Manhattan. In the 1890s, the western portion was known as Fulton Landing. At that time, the area was mainly a manufacturing district consisting of factories and warehouses. With deindustrialization during the late 1970s, the area became gentrified and offered relatively large Brooklyn rentals and DUMBO lofts.Today, the neighborhood is a nice mix of yuppies, professionals and artists.
