DUMBO is the acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass and includes two sections in Brooklyn. One section spans from the Manhattan Bridge to the Vinegar Hill area, and the other section is located between Brooklyn bridges and Manhattan. In the 1890s, the western portion was known as Fulton Landing. At that time, the area was mainly a manufacturing district consisting of factories and warehouses.
